GNSS Global Simulator:

SILICOM GNSS Global Simulator is an end-to-end GNSS simulation platform.

GNSS Global Simulator is entirely software, based on a system blocks architecture including signal-in-space generation, signal propagation and signal processing with minimum hardware requirements. It is a very useful research tool to develop and test GNSS algorithms performance, reliability, precision and accuracy.

It targets a large variety of user needs : test different generator and receiver configurations, implement new algorithms and analyze all signal processing steps results.

Complete GNSS Environment simulation:

  • Multiconstellation Signal simulation
  • Complete orbitography simulation
  • Navigation message generation
  • Electromagnetic GNSS signal simulation
  • Calculation of resulting signal at any earth point, taking in account multiple satellites, propagation effect, Doppler, etc.
  • GNSS Receiver algorithm
  • Multi-channel Acquisition/tracking of satellites
  • Point, Velocity and Time calculation

Signal generation

  • Complete orbitography simulation
  • Navigation message generation
  • Electromagnetic GNSS signal simulation
  • Calculation of resulting signal at any earth point, taking in account multiple satellites, propagation effect, Doppler, etc.
  • The toolbox currently provides a highly configurable model of satellite, covering various signal configurations for Galileo and GPS IIF.
  • PN Generator Switch: This Juzzle Switch activates one of the code generator provided with the toolbox. Most of them are LFSR-band codes generator. A specific node reads the code from a file, another one generates random data for emulation of military codes.
  • Multiplier & Sub Node: This Juzzle Node combines the data and the code of a channel, and adds the desired sub-carrier if needed. The sub-carrier can be any amongst BOC, BOCcos, BCS or even AltBOC.
  • Mapping Node: This Juzzle Node generates complex sample from two to four binary channels, according to the look-up table provided to generate QPSK or AltBOC modulation, for instance.

Signal propagation & RF stage

  • The satellite-to-ground propagation node applies attenuation, propagation delay and Doppler shift to the signal. Their evolution can either be calculated in the node or read from an external tool.Other phenomena include thermal noise and multi-path, applying specular model or statistical model based on Rice and Rayleigh distributions.
